Android Widget

Baby Tracker includes a home screen widget for Android that displays your baby's latest activities at a glance without opening the app.

Adding the Widget​

  1. Long-press on an empty area of your home screen
  2. Select Widgets from the menu
  3. Find Baby Tracker in the widget list
  4. Drag the widget to your desired location
  5. The widget configuration screen will open automatically

Widget Configuration​

When you add the widget (or tap on an existing widget), you can customize:

  • Baby Selection - If you track multiple babies, choose which baby's data to display (only shown when tracking more than one baby)
  • Background Color - Choose a color that matches your home screen
  • Font Color - Select a contrasting text color for readability
  • Transparency - Adjust how transparent the widget background appears

Tap Apply to save your settings.

What the Widget Shows​

The widget displays:

  • Baby Name - The name of the selected baby at the top
  • Bottle Feeding - Last drink time and amount
  • Breastfeeding - Last nursing session (only shown if within the last 2 days)
  • Diaper - Last diaper change

Each entry shows how long ago the activity occurred.

How Widget Refresh Works​

Important: Understanding Widget Timing

The widget refreshes every 15 minutes, which is the minimum interval allowed by Android to preserve battery life. This refresh happens in a power-efficient way that respects your device's deep sleep mode and does not drain your battery.

Calculating the Real Time​

Because the widget only updates every 15 minutes, the "time ago" displayed may not reflect the current moment. An "Updated" timestamp is shown on the widget so you know when the data was last refreshed.

To get the accurate time since an activity:

  1. Look at the Updated time on the widget
  2. Check the current time
  3. Add the difference to the displayed "time ago"

Example:

It's currently 8:34 PM and your widget shows:

  • "Updated: 8:29 PM"
  • "Last bottle: 25 min ago"

The widget was last updated 5 minutes ago (8:34 - 8:29 = 5 min).

Real time since last bottle: 25 + 5 = 30 minutes ago

For the most accurate information, open the Baby Tracker app. The app always shows real-time data.

Troubleshooting​

Widget not updating?​

  • Make sure Baby Tracker is not restricted from background activity in your device settings
  • Some battery optimization settings may prevent widgets from updating
  • Try removing and re-adding the widget

Widget shows old data?​

  • This is normal between refresh intervals
  • Check the "Updated" timestamp and calculate the real time as described above
  • Open the app for real-time information
